Temp Questions

When me and Lucky were playing Flashpoint 2 last night, my GPU temp shot up to 74 Degrees Celsius. When I first bought my comp and put it together, the average gpu temp was 38. Now the average temp is 49. I pulled my case out and cleaned out the case and its still showing the same temp.

That is a shot of all my temps. Does anyone know if this is something to be worried about? If so, what is there I can do about it? I have 3 fans running with a 4th on the gpu itself.

Your CPU is safe at 70 but right at the upper limit. I would first take the heat sink off and clean up the old thermal grease of the heat sink and CPU and put new on. I use Arctic Silver. Not to thick!! A thin layer is best.
If that does not help I have had great luck with my Corsair H50 Liquid cooling and it is a closed system so you never have to add fluid etc.

I have the Corsair H50 liquid cooling which after having other liquid cooling I highly recommend this for $75 which is so much cheaper and does the job very nice: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10010633&prodlist=froogle

LMAO Thanks for the heads up Ninj. What speed are you running the GPU fan at? I would use the Thermaltake T-Rad2: http://www.crazypc.com/products/thermalright-trad-51003.html Use good thermal compound like Arctic Silver.

It get's a low rating on Newegg because it does not fit the GT and it pissed off people. If they would have read they would see it fits the 9800GTX+ like you have and others. I have used Thermaltake aftermarket heat sinks on Vid cards and they work great and it is easy to install. Good cooling!!

Best bang for the buck. :thumb: Stock cooling sucks!!

Thanks for the reply guys. The fan spins fine cause I was moving it while I was cleaning it. As for that fan for the gfx card, I don't know if that will work because my PSU is right under my gfx card so I won't have the room for it.

As for the CPU cooler you mentioned, I may end up asking for that for christmas cause it seems pretty cool and seems totally worth it.

Thanks for the input guys but I'll have to look more into it during the week.

How much air flow do you have through your case? How many fans? Try to run it with the side cover off and see if that helps.

Sometimes the Thermal grease gets all hard and cracked etc so another option on the Vid card is to take of the heatsink fan assembly and clean up the old thermal grease and put new on. I have done that in the past and it has helped big time. Thin coat of thermal compound. Putting too much thermal paste between chips and heatsinks will slow-roast your computer.

crank the fan on that sucker! i know its different with ATi and NVidia but my vid card will run at like 50 c idle and when i play games that are demanding it will go up to 70 c if i dont turn my fan speed to 40%. at that it will not run more than 55 c.

good luck poon.

I have 1 fan on the gfx card that runs at 75%, 2 fans that blow air directly onto the gfx card and mobo and then one fan for exhaust out the back. All this thermal paste stuff sounds complicated :(
