Ok I'm trying to find out how to make a windows disc for the wife’s laptop. Obviously we bought the laptop with windows already installed and it did not come with a disc. I am told the customer has to make a backup disc.

I have done some research online but all I get is file backup sites. You guys know I’m a noob so could anyone help me out? maybe a good web site with step by step instructions?

Thanks guys

There is no way from what I know that you can just make a Windows disc from your pc. You just need a copy of Windows and then install the newest drivers for the laptop. What Windows version are you running? Did you buy the laptop from a store and if so what brand? Do you have the Windows Product Key?
There are ways of getting Legit CD keys for Windows and just download from Microsoft after you purchase the key. Here is one site that I have used and had very good luck with: http://www.cdkeyhouse.com//programs-sofware-c-28.html

Actuallyyyy, starting with vista, they do make you create your own back up discs when you buy a computer from a factory (Meaning Dell, HP, Compaq, Acer, etc). I did this with my laptop and my grandmothers computer. Although I did it when we started up for the first time. If you didn't do it when you started up, you're allowed to make one copy which will create factory setting recovery disc's. If I remember correctly, it remains if your control panel labeled as "Recovery Disc" or something like that. Its there so you might have to click on a few to see if its there.

Once you find it, it will let you know that it will take something like 26 cd's to backup, or 2 dvd's, or 1 dual layer dvd. You click on which on you inserted and it takes it from there.

Also, once you successfully create recovery discs, then the control panel piece you clicked on is gone forever!

If you need more info let me know and I'll see what else I can help with.

yes through Vista there is a way to do this.
Only other thing I can think of is get an OS and use Acronis to back up the OS you have now and reinstall that way.
Sure T=bag will find a way for you mate.
