I have a few months of deployment left and I need to get a good gaming laptop. Word around the street is the new Macbook Pros are top of the line with their quad core i7s. Any opinions?

All I have to go by is that Mac's are vastly overpriced for what you get but then I would imagine that would apply to most laptops.
Just read up on as many reviews as you can mate, Google is always your friend when researching hardware/software.

For the money your looking at spending on the Mac if you want a true gaming laptop Alienware kicks ass. http://www.alienware.com/Landings/laptops.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&ST=Sitelink&dgc=ST&cid=42319&lid=1546250&acd=sl_dhs_alienware,,901pdb6671

Since Dell and Alienware are together now the Dell XPS laptops also rock for gaming for less money. http://www.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/xps-laptops?c=us&cs=19&l=en

I wouldn't touch an Alienware at all. They are overpriced for what they are, not as bad as the mac's but still bad. Also every Alienware laptop I have ever used or worked on has major overheat issues.

This is whom I would go with. I've had a couple and worked on many and they are the shit especially for the price.

Alienware has come a long way from what you worked on Matt. I am not saying Alienware is the best bang for the buck but if your going to fork out the cash for a Mac it is an alternative. There are many good gaming laptops in the review links below. Sager does make some damn nice laptops but as all if you start adding more better graphics, ram etc the price gets very high also. If I bought one today I would get either the Dell or Asus.

Just read the reviews on the top gaming laptops:

I agree alienware are by far good laptops. But your paying for the brand, just see the spec look on a website what it would cost you to set up a own laptop and see the difference

I've come to the decision that gaming laptops are over-rated and over-priced. I'll end up getting a desktop again. Since I don't know how to put one together myself, is cyberpowerpc.com still the best website to build your own pc?
